Winter Olympics 2018: Gold Medallists

Here is a summary of the HWiS alumni who won Gold medals at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.


Ester Ledecka
Ester won two Golds and the first ever person to win medals in two separate sports. She won Gold for the Czech Republic in Skiing in the Super G, and in Snowboard in the Parallel Slalom.

Frida Hansdotter
Frida won Gold for Sweden in the Slalom. This is Frida's first ever Olympic medal in what could have been her last chance at age 32.

Anna Gasser
Anna took the first ever Big Air Womens Gold medal for Austria, after having a miserable time in the SlopeStyle.

Sofia Mabergs
She won Gold for Sweden in the Womens Curling. They beat South Korea in the final to take the top prize.

Kaitlyn Lawes
In the new Mixed Doubles event, Kaitlyn won Gold for Canada competing with playing partner John Morris.

Cassie Sharpe
Cassie won Gold in the Freestyle skiing Halfpipe event. This was the Canadian's first ever Olympics and she won relatively easily.

Hilary Knight
As part of the US Womens Hockey team, Hilary was a key figure in leading them to Gold. The Americans beat the Canadians in the final.
