Top 25 of 2015: #1 Dafne Schippers

The number girl this year could only be Dafne Schippers. The success she has had this year is unbelievable. Coupled with being the second most popular page on the site and it was the perfect unbeatable storm to take the no. 1 on the list. And so after finishing second last year, the Dutch racer takes 2015 top spot.

Dafne this year of course sensationally won Gold at the 200m at the World Championships in Beijing, Sensational as she beat the might of the Jamaicans and the Americans to do so. She has previously won the silver in the 100m at the same championships which in itself would probably have given her enough success to have charted highly.

With the fact she was also Gold medallist at the 60m in the European Indoor Championships in Prague.

And it was only this year she fully decided to be a sprinter. prior to June she was also a top Heptathlete but gave this up to concentrate on the sprints

Dafne first featured on the site on 14th August 2014. She has always been of the sites more popular girls but the clicks and hits went through the roof after her World Championship successes.

Top 25 of 2015: #2 Alina Talay

Alina Talay has been a huge hit on HWiS ever since we first featured the cute Belorussian Hurdler. Had she had a better competitive year in 2014 she would surely have finished in last years top 25, but due to a poor year for her she did not feature.

This year after successful championships and couple with her huge popularity on this site, she crashes in at number 2 on the list.

She won a gold at the European Indoor Championships held in Prague, narrowly beating out a British pair in a new National Record.  The 26 year old then went to the World Championships in Beijing, and won a Bronze medal. On her route to reaching the final she had to set a new Personal Best just to get there. In the final with the three favourites getting caught up in a battle Alina in lane 2 was able to run her own race, and won Bronze with a new national record.

2016 surely has to see her target the Olympics for glory. It will be difficult as some big names missed out on the medals at Beijing.

Top 25 of 2015: #5 Pauline Ferrand-Prevot

Pauline is HWiS royalty. Last years 1st place in the Top 25 poll after her World Championship win has not been matched though. She did win the French Championship and a stage of the Gira d'Italia. She did however become Cross Country Mountain Bike World Champion as well Cyclo Cross., as well National Championships.

2016 should be huge. Olympics medals are calling and whether she chooses one discipline or the unlikely two disciplines PFP will be a hot favourite regardless. She is only still 23.

She first featured on the site on 14th November 2014. She quickly started getting hits and then was our 2014 no1 in the top 25. She has since remained extremely popular.

Top 25 of 2015: #12 Dominika Cibulkova

Dominika was the first ever girl featured on HWiS and has always been a firm favourite on the site. That is how shes 12th on our list without having had a very good year in her career, as she she is simply so popular on here that a poor year blighted by injury still sees her on the Top 25 list.
That injuries meant she didn't win any titles this year. She missed the French Open and was out in the first round at Wimbledon, but she didn't make the Quarter Finals of the Australian Open. Her ranking has fell to 40th by the end of the year
